Easy Golden Milk Recipe
Hi there! Hope you all are well! I’m still trying to fight off a cold over here. At least it looks like the weather is on my side today. It’s supposed to be in the mid-70s! You know how I love cold weather…
I recently decided to try out golden milk (or a turmeric latte, depending on who you ask) that I’ve seen making its rounds on social media. It’s actually been a part of Ayurvedic medicine for centuries but is just starting to catch on here in the states. I can see why it’s gotten so popular! It’s incredibly easy to make and full of anti-inflammatory turmeric and healthy fats (depending on what milk you choose). Sounds like the perfect thing to help me kick this cold!
Easy Golden Milk
- ¾ c plain, unsweetened almond milk
- ¼ c full-fat coconut milk (can substitute for more almond milk for a low fat variation)
- ¾ t turmeric powder
- ⅛ t cinnamon
- 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper (Don’t omit! Pepper slows the breakdown of turmeric and increases its absorption so it can do all of its anti-inflammatory magic in your body for longer.)
- 1 T honey (or 1 packet stevia for a no sugar version)
Gently heat the milks in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in all of the spices and the honey until well-combined. Remove from heat just before it boils. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy! Side note: Do NOT stick your finger in the golden milk to see if it’s hot enough! Not only is this a bad idea because you could get burnt, you’ll also stain your fingernail yellow for several days. I speak from experience.
Xoxo,
Kristina
